The FAKRA 2 Outer is the second phase in the Mecal process for crimping FAKRA 2 wires. The machine is made up of a specifically modified applicator and a P107C press.
This applicator, developped based on a standard Mecal FMS, has a special customization to deal with and apply the SMB terminal. The process is semi-automatic.
To ensure the proper performance of the work cycle, on the front support plate there are numerous placements controlled by sensors which give the consent only each component of the wiring is in the right position.

The sequence is:
  • Manual entry of the outer with presence control piece
  • Manual entry of the coaxial cable into dedicated seating with position control and subsequent locking
  • Activating the two-hand control by the operator
  • Guided inner insertion into outer and position control
  • Inserting the ferrule with position control
  • Crimping the ferrule


The entire cycle is controlled and operated by an electro-pneumatic control unit installed on the press.
Mecal has developed, for this applicator, a P107C press with special casing that closes completely after the activation of the two-hand control to ensure the safety of the operator.
